Not Buying It

Inspired by a book I am reading and the enthusiasm of others my rules will be;

Food;
No crap processed food that I dont need.
Meals out and food out are fine.

Entertainment;
Donations for baby groups etc are ok.
As are cinema trips etc.
Bus travel is fine.
Taxi’s home must be absolutely necessary and involve overtired baby not mummy.

Gifts;
Gifts are fine but stick to natural materials.

Clothes;
No new clothes for myself and no new clothes for my son. The acceptions are: Underwear and plain white vests/socks/sleepsuits for my son if necessary.
Alternatives are clothes swaps, charity shops and freecycle, ebay etc but only if I really “need” it this means if I have broken something or completely grown out of something.

Everything else must be begged borrowed or bought second hand and must go in this order;

Ask friends
Look on freecycle
Look in charity shops
Look on online local selling groups
Look on ebay

I also want to get rid of one bin bags worth of stuff a week to declutter and I cannot rationalise keeping it to sell.

I have decided that I am not going to beat myself up if I do buy something new but that it must be good quality and last, my biggest issue is that I buy “bargains” and stuff for the sake of it and waste my money.
